Operation Inbox ZERO

Gmail – Inbox ZERO
Originally uploaded by Michael S Galpert.

i have successfully removed all 200 outstanding emails from my inbox. I hope to maintain my inbox at zero daily. I was inspired by Merlin Mann’s talk that he gave at Google Recently. You can view the video here and his slides are here.

If you have sent me an email in the past 2 weeks to which I have yet to respond to, I apologize.

I will be tackling that task tomorrow.

If it is of timely concern feel free to re-email or twitter or im or call me. :-)

tumbling over the web

Ive been tumbleloging over at msg.tumblr.com

Wikipedia to the rescue

My Tumble Likes:
i like how quick and easy it is to share web stuff with out feeling the need to provide my 2 cents.

My Tumble Dislikes:
I dont like that commenting is disabled. I understand that this is somewhat antithetical to tumblogs as a whole, but it would be nice if it were at least optional per post.

maybe now ill have more time to focus on longer posts here on my weblog

FYI: I HATE THE WORD BLOG

Pretty Pownce has Potential

I received a pownce invite today from Nate. It is the much coveted invite in the web2geekosphere right now (search ebay for proof). Laughingsquid has a solid writeup .Others attempt to compare it to twitter

I think the driving force right now for the hype is due to a variety of factors:

* not everyone has an iphone they can play w/ and it gets boring talking about something you dont have

* ppl are bored of the facebook apps that are currently out there (dont worry Jake Jarvis has a Pownce app out)

* The diggers now have a way of private messaging each other (aka better way of gaming digg)

* It does its job “send stuff to your friends” pretty well (emphasis on pretty: even their about page is visually pleasing.

* last but not least the exclusive role out ala gmail ( i wonder if they are tracking the swarm of invites i would love to see how that would look on a map over time.

I think pownce has great potential. I personally hate receiving fwded funny links or videos via email and im while at work (since i get easily distracted) I like the potential of having an on/off switch. The only problem is that I have to wait for all my friends to get invited / adopt pownce as a means of sharing webcrap.

I’m assuming if you read my blog you care what I share, you can follow me on pownce(@msg) if you want an invite to pownce I have a couple left, im saving them for friends :-)

Random comments:

Pownce isnt perfect (yet) I continually have trouble logging in from the homepage and am forced to login at the next page.

I’m assuming I will use the AIR client more often so it shouldnt be too much of a problem.

I was warned that pownce followers are worse than twitter followers so I made sure as soon as I signed up was to disable all notifications:

Dude this is just great:

Myspacers Know How to Cut and Paste

Last night I had a mildly heated discussion on “real users” with Nate. I dont have time to get into the details of our discussion, but for some reason I cant get one of his comments out of my head.

Nate was trying explain the fact that Myspacers know how to use CSS and therefore they know more about how the internets work. Just because these 18 ppl know how to use CSS well on myspace, doesnt mean that the vast majority of myspacer do. The rest just know how to copy and paste the code, know what CSS is!

The following came to me on my way in to work today:

Just because I knew this code growing up:
Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, B, A, select, start.
Didnt mean that i knew how Contra worked.
It was just a quick fix for getting more lives

Anyways, I cant wait for the innonate conference that will be held on the Westheimer farm. All myspacers are welcome. (no knowledge of css required, but you must promise that you are over 13.)

[UPDATE: Thanks Charlie for providing the correct Contra code]

Flow AND Me AND You AND Stowe Boyd

I just came across this amazing presentation Stowe Boyd gave at Reboot 9.0, and needed to share it ASAP

I plan on watching it a couple of more times before posting my thoughts.
A lot of his points hit home pretty hard.
